Sincerial was founded by Per Gunnar Auran, PhD and Knut O. Hellan, MSc. They have a combined experience of 18 years in the web search industry covering Fast Search & Transfer, Overture, Yahoo! and Google.
Knut O. Hellan, MSc Engineering Cybernetics, has
experience from engineering, project management
and engineering management from Q-Free ASA, Fast Search & Transfer, Overture, Yahoo! and lastly, Google, where
he was the engineering manager building up a team in Trondheim that was part of the core Google News team.
The main focus of this team was news article classification, spreading Google News to more countries and
mobile editions. The iPhone version of Google News was developed by this team.
Per Gunnar Auran, PhD Engineering Cybernetics, has experience from research, engineering and
project management from the Norwegian Paper and Pulp research institute (PFI), Fast Search & Transfer, Overture
and most recently Yahoo!. In Fast he built up a technical team focusing on data analysis and ranking algorithms
for the AllTheWeb search engine, and lead the development of a new ranking model that was introduced into the
web search system. In Yahoo! he has mostly worked on search quality and ranking, semantic search and content
analysis serving both as technical lead and team manager.
